Happy Body Slow Brain | Dreams of Water

Band composed of some former members of Taking Back Sunday.  Much better than Taking Back Sunday. Progressive R&B/Rock, according to Wikipedia.  Love the album artwork.

High Safari | Skylight

Sidewalk Chalk

Sidewalk Chalk
The whole session is good, but my favorite song of is "Lyrically Free" (skip to 27:41).

Gold Fields | Gold Fields

The song "Treehouse" on this album es muy bueno.

Neon Trees | Trust

Sounds like somebody listened to Depeche Mode before writing a song.

Paper Rival | EP

I can't believe nobody has told me about this band. I guess it was originally named Keating.  I would describe them as a mix between The Format, Company of Thieves, and Lost Prophets. I like all three of their albums, but their EP is the best in my opinion.  I'm guessing Michael will like their first two albums, and Becca will like their third. The first two are dark and emo, and the third is more hipster.
I couldn't find their best song, "You're Right," on YouTube so you'll have to buy it to listen to it.

John Butler Trio

The John Butler Trio are an Australian roots and jam band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler. The band's last three studio albums: Sunrise Over Sea (2004); Grand National (2007); and April Uprising (2010) all debuted at the number one position on the Australian album charts. This might be my new favorite band.

Incubus | If Not Now, When?

In an interview lead singer Brandon Boyd pointed out that this album marks the start of a new chapter for the band. "This new record that we're finishing right now is different from anything that we've done," he said. "It's like that next phase. We're gonna kind of challenge our fans with this one, but I'm excited about that. I think that's what needs to happen."

Act of Congress | Worth Fighting For

This is the latest from Act of Congress. I don't know if anyone else in this family besides me even listens to these guys. Anyway, their acoustic songs are rather beautiful.

Mae | Communication

One of my favorite Mae songs:

Dokken | In My Dreams

How awesome was hair metal? Very.

October Game

Here's how I would rank my favorite bands right now:

1. Chris Merritt
2. Company of Thieves
3. October Game
4. Fictionist
5. Two Door Cinema Club

As you can see, October Game makes the top five list. Enjoy.

Michael, you would like their first album, Box of a Billion Lights, because it sounds a lot like Radiohead (with The Cure mixed in). The complexity, arrangement, lyrics, melodies, and vocals all blow my mind. This is a much darker album than Wildblood, but just as good if not better.

My favorite tracks:

3. No Time for Feelings
5. Deepest Suburban Sleep
7. Satellites
8. Serpentine
11. Bell, Why so Blue?

Sweet Thing | Lazy Susan

Kathleen Edwards | Voyageur

I can't remember if I've mentioned Kathleen Edwards before. Anyway, her new album is very good (if you like alt-country, that is).

Esperanza Spalding | Radio Music Society

In 2011, she won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 53rd Grammy Awards, making her the first jazz artist to win the award. And she's from Portland! I might be in love with her.

Eric Roberson | All For Me

If I'm going to listen to gospel, I'd rather hear it from a legit R&B artist (who doesn't make a career out of priestcraft, but just wants to include a track on an album to express his faith in Christ) than some white person on a Seminary soundtrack that was composed by Michael McLean, even though Michael McLean has great intentions I'm sure. Someone should sing this song in church, preferably a black man with soul.

The Black Keys| Run Right Back

It took awhile for me to get into these guys, maybe you just have to be in the mood, but now i can't stop listening to them!

SBTRKT

I'm going out on a limb here. Maybe someone in this family will end up liking dubstep. I think it could grow on me.
